Since time immemorial cartoons have entertained and amused us, and some of the most famous cartoon characters around signify different things to different people. People often say that cartoons are only for children and young adults, but this is certainly not true. In the cartoon world, there is something for absolutely everyone around.
There are thousands of different cartoon characters that have been with us for many years, and some of them are far more easily recognizable than others. Many people have grown up with certain characters, and seeing these faces now only brings up a lot of memories and makes them nostalgic. Tom and Jerry is a series of animated theatrical shorts created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera that centered on a never-ending rivalry between a housecat (Tom) and a mouse (Jerry) whose chases and battles often involved comic violence. In Tom and Jerry Tom is a cat and Jerry is a mouse , a team which is very much popular from age 3 to 60. Both of them are Academy Award winner. They were mostly directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. They were produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio in Hollywood.

Popeye the Sailor is a very famous cartoon character, who first came under public eye in 1929. Created by Elzie Crisler Segar, Popeye has become a very successful franchise. Each snippet of the character is about his overcoming of certain troubles by eating a can of Spinach, which gives him superhuman strength and intelligence. One of the most interesting facets of the series is his long standing rivalry with Bluto, for the affections of Olive Oyl.

Garfield is a comic strip created by Jim Davis. Published since June 19, 1978, it chronicles the life of the title character, the cat Garfield (named after Davis' grandfather); his owner, Jon Arbuckle; and Arbuckle's dog, Odie.

Bartholomew JoJo "Bart" Simpson is a fictional main character in the animated television series The Simpsons and part of the eponymous family. Nancy Cartwright has won several awards for voicing Bart, including a Primetime Emmy Award in 1992 and an Annie Award in 1995. In 2000, Bart, along with the rest of his family, was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
